Current opening is at the Courtney Bend Plant.
Checks, services, repairs, and maintains all Water Department equipment including vehicles, pumps, motors, tools, and machinery. Maintains and repairs all buildings, structures, furniture, etc. Performs welding, painting, carpentry, mechanical repair, or other related jobs as assigned. Operates pick‑up trucks, tractors, and other vehicles in the performance of assigned duties. Responsible for plant operations when the Plant Operator is absent and performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Skilled in the fields of welding, painting, carpentry, and mechanical repair; vocational training desired. Must possess a valid driver’s license; hold or obtain a Missouri Class "D" Water Plant Operator’s License within six months after being placed on the job. Must have knowledge of Water Department Safety regulations, guidelines, and programs within three months. Must complete NIMS level training within first six months of hire.
Physical Demands: Ability to climb ladders and climb in and out of confined spaces. Ability to bend and lift 75 lbs., plus or minus 25 lbs. Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors in order to operate plant and perform laboratory titrations. Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co‑workers over the phone, radio and in person. Must participate on plant chemical maintenance team.
Typical Working Conditions: Outdoor conditions of extreme heat and cold and adverse weather. May be required to respond to emergencies during non‑working hours.
