Clay County Juvenile Detention personnel is responsible for the safety and security of each resident in the juvenile detention center. They are expected to enforce all policies and procedures at all times while working with some degree of independence under the Supervisor on duty. The Detention Staff ensure each juvenile’s basic needs are met, assist with kitchen and laundry duties, resolves problems, communicates clearly verbally and in documentation, and utilizes conflict resolution skills.

The Clay County Juvenile Detention has part-time openings available.

The Juvenile Detention staff position is designated, at time of hire, as Deputy Juvenile Officer or Youth Specialist, by education level. Pay starts at $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on position title.

Minimum Qualifications:

Youth Specialist - High School diploma
Deputy Juvenile Officer - Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social
Work or a related human service field.
Must have a valid driver’s license and liability insurance.
