GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of professional, administrative, and technical functions to secure community financial support for department events and programs. Creates digital and printed content to promote department classes, activities, programs and events on social media platforms, City signage, City website, and in brochures, flyers, and catalogs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Performs some or all of the following)
Works with representatives from partnering organizations and department staff to create digital content to promote department fields, courts, facilities, programs, classes, and events. Promotes department activities electronically on social media platforms, City website, City signage, and through email, and with printed flyers, brochures, newsletters, and catalogs. Creates digital content to meet sponsorship deliverables.
Administrative Functions: Assists with development of department sponsorship program with multiple levels. Assists with determination of deliverables, reporting methods, and incentives for local, regional, and national businesses. Travels locally to maintain positive relationships with businesses, organizations and associations.
Compiles information for detailed reports to management regarding available sponsorship opportunities, sponsorships received, revenue generated, expenses incurred, deliverables achieved and return on investment.
Reviews, analyzes, and prepares reports related to social media and mobile applications; presents reports to management and commissions.
Ensures promotional materials contain accurate and current information. Creates accurate and current content for department web pages.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Technical Functions:
Develops, schedules, and posts digital content for department activities on social media platforms, City signage, and City web pages.
Creates content and assists with layout, production and distribution of recreation catalogs, trail guides, sponsorship programs, newsletters, fliers, and other printed materials for public and electronic distribution.
Creates content for all City-owned historic sites and museums for promotions and inclusion on the website Calendar of Events page.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
College coursework or Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in business administration, communications; public relations, marketing, information technology, or related area;
One (1) year progressively responsible administrative experience performing above and related duties;

An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of public and media relations; current trends across various social media platforms; sponsorship contracts and deliverables related to parks and recreation; basic principles and computer applications related to the work, including word processing and graphics software; proper use of digital cameras and video editing equipment; principles and practices of parks and recreation programming and special events coordination.
Working knowledge of principles and practices of the parks and recreation industry and customer service; report writing, data collection and input, statistical analysis, and records management; planning, coordinating, and scheduling assignments; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks.
Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction; using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines; applying logical thinking to solve basic problems or accomplish tasks; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials.
Ability todeal courteously and diplomatically with public and online community; understand, interpret, and communicate complicated policies, procedures, and protocols; solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; speak effectively with individuals and public groups, and respond to questions; read, interpret and develop documents; write reports and correspondence giving close attention to detail and accuracy; interpret and/or develop a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; maintain confidentiality when handling any and all matters; maintain professional appearance as appropriate; work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays to promote department programs, classes and events; maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance and punctuality.
Special Qualifications: (depending on area of assignment)
Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.

Work Environment:
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is routinely in multiple facilities, various types of activity areas, is exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, vehicular traffic, close physical contact with the public and exposure to noxious plants and insects, in addition to a normal indoor office environment. While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, sit, crouch, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, to reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity is required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, critical thinking, and creative problem solving. The position requires working some evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure operational efficiencies.
