Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing proactive digital content outreach, education, and engagement opportunities in support of communication goals and objectives.
• Provide project coordination for key initiatives of the Department of Strategic Communications and County Administration.
Create and post regularly to our social media channels (currently Facebook, LinkedIn, Nextdoor, YouTube, and Instagram) on behalf of the Unified Government. Coordinate research and inquiries to answer community questions, as appropriate.
•Coordinate content from all Unified Government departments to our social media channels as part of an overarching content calendar and finalize and maintain overall social media policy.
•Facilitate the creation of Facebook Live events and “On the Dotte” videos that explain key functions and services of local government for the general public.
•Create regular content and updates for the UG website, in collaboration with all UG departments, and ensure adherence to the Unified Government brand guidelines.
•Write, edit, and proofread communication materials, including news articles, social media content, internal communications and community reports in alignment with UG Brand Guidelines.
• Assist with content for digital monitors throughout various UG buildings
• Create and schedule the "DotteNews" email newsletter as a digest of weekly updates and information.
• Assist with planning and implementing strategic campaigns, including budget outreach and engagement.
• Assist with mapping out processes and procedures for various communications tasks.
• Provide photography at key events and functions, as needed.
Support television broadcasting of our Commission meetings and other UGTV public access television content by overseeing the content calendar and scheduling functions.
• Support translation of materials into other languages for community reach.
• Maintain the communications@wycokck.org email inbox for the department.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or related field and two years of public relations or media related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in communications or related field is preferred. The ideal candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in digital tools and social media, and excellent organizational and strategic thinking abilities. Essential skills also include content creation, project management, attention to detail, and the capability to work cross-functionally with UG Departments and community organizations, as well as handle pressure and meet deadlines.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of website design and content management, internet marketing, and social media applications.
• Demonstrated graphic design skills with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop).
• Working/ Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of AP Style is preferable.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• High level of creativity and strategic thinking, with the ability to develop innovative communication solutions.
• Adaptive and flexible, capable of changing course as deadlines and needs evolve.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player who can work independently but excels in a creative environment.
• Ability to successfully handle multiple projects while meeting set deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Bilingual is preferred
Salary Range:
$28.36-$37.92/hr.
