Assists in the collection and preparation of data for various financial reports, policies, or procedures.
Examines financial information, studies, and operational data to analyze the financial performance of IPL.
Reviews, analyzes and forecasts utility data to ensure accuracy and to analyze trends.
Assists in the development of IPL budgets, forecasting future financial needs and analyzing variances.
Develops and utilizes financial models to analyze the financial impact of various decisions and scenarios.
Prepares financial reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, Public or Business Administration, or related field; AND Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience performing above and related duties; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.
Knowledge of principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and accounting; principles of city management; pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; analyze written materials and financial reports; prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports and research and identify critical data to report in support of goals; work independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function; demonstrate proficiency with spreadsheets and other software tools
Skills to analyze programs, policies and operations; using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; analyzing and suggesting solutions to office administrative situations and problems; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical date and materials; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols; mathematical skills; communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
Working Conditions Whileperforming the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, talk, or hear, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
