JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position performs skilled investigative and regulatory duties to ensure compliance with City codes and ordinances governing businesses, occupations, and the collection of occupational taxes and licensing fees. The role is responsible for regulating business and occupational activities, including taxi cabs and livery vehicles, occupational equipment and machinery, and motor vehicle salvage yards, as well as enforcing applicable City codes and ordinances.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct investigations and field inspections related to business licensing, tax compliance, and regulatory inquiries.
Enforce City codes and ordinances applicable to businesses and occupations.
Manage accounts receivable, including processing payments and issuing receipts.
Record, classify, verify, and report financial and related data accurately.
Provide excellent front-line customer service in a courteous and user-friendly manner.
Respond knowledgeably to public inquiries regarding business licensing, taxes, and regulatory requirements.
Assist applicants with completing business license and tax forms.
Maintain accurate computer-based and written records and files.
Prepare correspondence, reports, flyers, and brochures using Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and experience in public contact work, preferably related to business, occupation, or buildings trades, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties of the position. At least 3 years of relative experience preferred. Knowledge of PC applications and 10-key. Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with the public courteously and tactfully. Must possess a valid Driver's License with no moving violations within three years. License number is required at the time of application. License check will be conducted.
