REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, management, accounting, or related field, and eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience in public or business administration and three (3) years of supervisory experience at the level of Financial Manager; OR an accredited Master’s degree in public or business administration, finance, accounting, or related field, and six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in public or business administration and three (3) years of supervisory experience at the level of Financial Manager; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference given to those who are a GFOA Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) or a ICMA Credentialed Manager (CM).

What you’ll do

Lead the City’s operating and capital budget by overseeing preparation, presentation, and ongoing management of a $2.5B budget so resources are aligned to community needs and policy goals
Guide revenue and budget leadership by advising and directing the Commissioner of Revenue and Budget Officer to strengthen planning, performance management, and financial accountability
Advance priority-based budgeting by championing and overseeing the City’s funding framework so dollars are allocated based on data, outcomes, and equity
Manage revenue forecasting and strategy by actively monitoring trends, improving projections, and developing revenue generation and collection strategies that support long-term financial stability
Serve as a senior representative of the department by engaging with the Mayor, City Council, internal leaders, and external organizations to communicate financial strategy clearly and credibly
Ensure compliance and continuity by upholding accounting and tax administration standards and serving as acting Director of Finance when needed
