Job Description
- We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transit Maintenance Laborer to join our team. This position is essential for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our transit vehicles and bus shelter stations, contributing to a safe and pleasant environment for our passengers. The ideal candidate will perform general custodial and janitorial work, requiring physical resilience and the ability to handle various maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Custodial Duties:
Clean and sanitize the bus fleet to ensure a hygienic travel experience for passengers.
Remove trash at designated bus shelter locations and dispose of it at appropriate waste disposal sites.
Wash bus shelters during Spring/Summer months or as needed to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
Remove graffiti from shelters and kiosk infrastructure promptly to uphold aesthetic standards.
Report any infrastructure issues or maintenance needs to the direct supervisor.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Fuel department vehicles and conduct routine checks to ensure proper functioning.
Drive department vehicles to various locations for replacement, repairs, or other designated purposes.
General Maintenance:
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Valid Class C Commercial Driver’s License.
Ability to learn and apply safety precautions, methods, materials, and equipment used in maintenance work.
Skills and Abilities
Physically perform manual tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and carrying objects.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
Excellent communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with team members.
A proactive attitude toward learning and adapting to new responsibilities.
