Pay range: $18.42 - $23.00 per hour Accepting applications until Friday, March 27th. If selected, interviews will be held on Thursday, April 2nd. Essential Duties And Responsibilities: 1. Assists with the daily oversight and training of part-time employees, volunteers and community service workers. 2. Performs daily cleaning and sanitization of all animal holding areas and ensures these areas are kept clean throughout the day. Provides basic cleaning functions such as dusting, mopping, sweeping, trash removal, snow removal, light plumbing duties, laundry and restroom sanitation on a daily basis. 3. Acts as primary care provider for all animals housed at the Animal Shelter. Provides for the daily feed and water requirements for all animals, performs routine pet care, and provides any necessary medical treatments as prescribed by the contract veterinarian. 4. Provides initial customer service and greeting of visitors to the shelter, answers telephones, takes messages and directs calls to appropriate personnel, assists walk-in customers, files office correspondence, reports, records and other documents. 5. Assists customers and outside agencies/groups with the redemption or adoption of pets from the Animal Shelter. 6. Collects payment of fees associated with animal adoption and redemption of animals and the sale of City Pet Licenses. May be responsible for the daily reconciliation of cash register and transport of daily deposit to City Hall. 7. May dispatch, advise, and maintain radio communications with Animal Control Officers working in the field. 8. Assists contract veterinarian with routine veterinary procedures including euthanasia of animals, vaccinations, fecal examinations, blood tests, removal of parasites, microchip injection, and minor surgical procedures. 9. Performs routine data entry within the Chameleon software system for the impoundment, redemption and adoption of animals at the Animal Shelter and also City Pet License sales. 10. Evaluates animals based on their observed behavioral traits and makes recommendations with regard to the adoptability of these animals as pets. 11. Provides educational materials to the general public with regard to basic animal care, animal behavioral issues, pre and post adoption support, basic animal related public safety issues and related animal welfare topics. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Must be 18 years of age at time of employment. 2. High School Diploma or equivalent. 3. No experience required; six months to one year of experience in a related field preferred. 4. Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required 5. No felony convictions or commission of or participation in any Felony crime, whether detected or not. 6. No on-going or repetitious history of committing or participating in Misdemeanor crimes, whether detected or not.
