Pay Starting at: $5,173 per month
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The Project & Fixed Asset Accountant manages accounting activities related to capital projects and fixed assets. This role ensures accurate capitalization, depreciation, project cost tracking, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Work is performed closely with project managers, finance, and operations to provide reliable financial reporting and analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
What you’ll do
• Track, analyze, and report project costs from initiation through completion
• Ensure proper capitalization of project costs in accordance with accounting standards, City policy, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate cost reporting
• Support project close-out processes, including asset capitalization and reconciliation
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments
• Perform periodic fixed asset reconciliations to the general ledger
• Conduct and support physical asset inventories
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/GASB) and internal controls
• Prepare fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation for audits
• Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries related to projects and fixed assets
• Assist in financial statement preparation and disclosures
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve project and fixed asset accounting processes
• Assist with system implementations or upgrades related to asset and project accounting
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRES
• Accredited Bachelor's with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related subject area;
• and five (5) years professional experience in governmental or business accounting. Such experience is to be of a progressively responsible nature including;
• two (2) years of intermediate professional accounting (at the level of Accountant II);
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City.
• Must pass a 10-year TSA Background Check.
• Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, 3-5 years of specialized experience in capital project accounting, fixed asset accounting, or a similar role, and experience with Workday ERP System
