Job Description:
The Public Works, Asset Management team is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Information Systems Analyst. This position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing GIS and asset data for the Environmental Services Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GIS concepts, asset management systems, and experience working with spatial data in both office and field settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update GIS and asset management data specific to Public Works Environmental Services operations.
- Interpret and analyze complex construction drawings, engineering designs, and survey plans.
- Import and integrate digital files into the UG GIS/Central Square platform, including CAD and MicroStation files.
- Conduct field data collection using GPS/GNSS equipment to capture high-accuracy spatial information.
- Design and manage GIS data collection applications for field crews.
- Develop dashboards and GIS applications to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for Environmental Services.
- Fulfill GIS and mapping requests from internal divisions and external customers.
- Provide technical assistance and Tier 1 IT support for Android tablets and mobile field technology.
- Ensure consistency in data editing standards, documentation, and workflow adherence.
- Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex GIS-related problems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, and at least one year of programming, systems analysis, or work experience related to area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above. Ability to perform spatial and attribute edits to GIS databases. Intermediate to advanced information technology troubleshooting skills. Desired software knowledge: ESRI Suite; ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, CentralSquare or other CMMS, Excel, Notepadd++, basic HTML, SQL, Map document/map services design skills a plus. Knowledge of GIS and CMMS use within a utility or government organization is preferred. Experience in field survey data collection is a plus. A creative spatial problem solver. Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s license.
Salary Range:
$26.74-$35.76/hr.
