Disease Investigator Specialist, EPI/TB Programs
Job Description:
- Complete contact investigations of Reportable Communicable diseases
- Implement control measures and recommendations to prevent the spread of disease in the county.
- Enter data relating to disease investigations into the online surveillance system and the Health Department's Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Assist in investigations of disease outbreaks and clusters of unusual activity in the county.
- Provide recommendations on control and preventative measures regarding communicable diseases.
- Contact with potentially infectious clients in homes, apartments, work locations, and isolation locations.
- Complete annual Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for fit testing a tight-fitting respirator, including N95 masks.
- Provide community outreach and education regarding communicable diseases as needed.
- Prepare for and respond to public health emergencies as required.
- Assist in completing data reports and managing data for communicable diseases in the county.
- Comply with HIPAA requirements and regulations.
- Assist patients in linkage to care and follow up as needed.
- Carry and respond to a 24/7 epidemiology hotline phone as requested by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related fields, including Health Sciences, Public Health, Biology, Epidemiology, Nursing, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Six months of experience in Public Health, Communicable Disease Control, Infection Control, or related field is preferred. Software knowledge of programs utilized (e.g., Microsoft Suite products, Adobe products, video conferencing, and others as required). Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to concentrate on detailed information. Ability to manage work effectively and efficiently. Must have a Valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance. Must pass a background check and drug screen
