The Court Security Officer, under the direction of the Court Administrator, provides security and protection to employees and citizens in the courtroom and office areas of the Municipal Court. Court Security Officer monitors activities to maintain conduct and behavior that is compliant with the Lee’s Summit Municipal Code. Pay: $21.73 - $27.47 per hour MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required Three years previous experience as law enforcement or security officer required Must be bondable Current commission to carry concealed weapon required NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of security principles and practices Working knowledge of municipal court procedures and operations Working knowledge of Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Working knowledge of Regional Justice Information Services Commission (REJIS) Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing Ability to deal effectively with the general public and other city employees Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work within established routines and procedures and handle multiple priorities Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all matters handled in the course of work Ability to train and monitor court staff in certification requirements Ability to organize and direct the activities of others PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts and works with Court Administrator, Municipal Judges, City employees and members of the general public TOOLS and SPECIAL EQUIPMENT: Commissioned to carry a concealed weapon.
