Reports To: City Engineer
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the direction of a Professional Engineer (P.E.), performs engineering work for water, sanitary sewer, street, stormwater, and other Public Works projects; ensures technical. competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria; works with maintenance crews to problem solve, review and inspects permitted work, and works towards building public trust and confidence in its Public Works Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties as assigned.
Works on projects for the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
Assists Public Works with design and construction projects and creates cost estimates for projects.
Assists other with various Public Works projects as required.
Ensures that job duties are completed in strict adherence to established safe work practices.
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
General street, storm, sewer, sanitary and waterline design.
General construction inspection.
Effective communication principles and practices to include public relations.
Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Microsoft office and entry-level AutoCAD skills.
Education and Experience:
Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a standard office and field environment and will occasionally be exposed to weather conditions and heavy machinery.
