Position Summary:
Incumbents in this part-time election season role assist the Wyandotte County Election Office in the administration of National, State, and Local Elections. This position supports various election-related activities, including assisting with voting machine logistics, polling place supply management, ballot production, election worker training support, election canvassing, and general operational tasks to help ensure smooth and compliant election processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the logistics, setup, lifting, moving, and organization of voting equipment and supplies in the warehouse and at polling places.
Support the management and inventory of polling place supplies before, during, and after elections.
Aid in the production, sorting, and organization of ballots and mail ballot related election materials.
Assist in coordinating and facilitating election worker training sessions by providing logistical support to ensure proper preparation and regulatory compliance.
Provide support during testing and programming of voting equipment, including Logic & Accuracy (L&A) testing, under supervision.
Help coordinate polling place operations by assisting with the handling and accounting of materials and equipment.
Support community outreach initiatives by attending events and assisting with voter education efforts as requested.
Maintain accurate records and assist with the preparation of reports and documentation related to election operations.
Assist with election canvassing activities including results and chain of custody verification, post-election audits, and provisional ballot reconciliation.
Supports voter registration activities as needed, including processing voter registration and advance by mail requests, and answering public questions.
Follow all relevant Kansas statutes, administrative regulations, and Election Office policies to ensure compliance.
Performs a wide variety of other duties as assigned to assist in the successful administration of elections.
Qualifications:
Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Any experience related to the duties listed above is recommended. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Salary Range:
$15.00/hr.
