Under direct supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, the Park Operations Manager, or the Assistant Superintendent of Park Construction, and indirect supervision by the Superintendent of Park Operations and/or Superintendent of Park Planning and Construction, performs a variety of duties involving the maintenance and construction of park grounds and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operates trucks, tractors and a variety of manual power tools in the maintenance, construction and repair of park grounds and facilities.

2. Assists in performing maintenance of grounds and facilities as directed, including but not limited to landscape installation, maintenance and upkeep, structure maintenance, basic playground repairs, mulch installation, and minor tree trimming.

3. Assists in making necessary repairs to park structures and building, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs.

4. May perform minor construction of park facilities and grounds.

5. Supports other Divisions in the preparation, setup, execution and cleanup of special events and activities.

6. Undertakes snow removal and ice treatment for areas as assigned.

7. Assists, under direction and guidance, with repairs and maintenance to aquatics facilities, fountains, and irrigation systems.

8. Assists with trail maintenance and repair.

9. Collaborates with other divisions of the Department in order to ensure delivery of service consistent with Departmental missions and objectives.

10. Ensures the enforcement of park and recreation rules and regulations.

11. Purchases necessary supplies and equipment using department procedures.

12. Participates in professional organizations.

13. Maintain equipment and inventory according to established procedures.

14. Assists with cemetery operations and grounds maintenance as assigned.

15. Installs and removes decorations and other enhancements to parks and facilities for special events and holidays. Peripheral Duties: 1. Attends meetings as assigned, directed or requested. 2. Serves as a staff member for special events as assigned. 3. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent required; and 2. One year related experience preferred; and 3. A valid state driver’s license is required.
