JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities include overseeing justice-involved youth who attend Day Reporting at the Juvenile Services Center. The Professional Program Assistant will ensure that youth stay on target with online assignments and provide/create lesson plans for youth not enrolled in an online program or during times when school is on break. The Professional Program Assistant will meet with stakeholders in the community (i.e., schools, community service sites, program providers). The Professional Program Assistant will become certified in programs to facilitate to justice-involved youth and/or families (i.e., Parent Project, cognitive education programs, etc.). The Program Specialist will be responsible for finding enrichment opportunities for youth in the community. Additional duties include providing agency transportation of justice-involved youth to programming and/or community service, and supervision of justice-involved youth as they engage in pro-social activities on and off site. Daily documentation will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 21 years of age. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, and one year of related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Working knowledge of the juvenile justice system. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Punctual and reliable. Must be able to present self and program professionally. Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License and an excellent driving record. Must pass NCIC criminal records check and abuse registry check. Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
Salary Range:
$21.86-$28.58/hr.
