The City of Eudora is accepting applications for a Project Engineer within our Public Works Department. The position will be responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing various civil engineering projects. This position will act as a project engineer/manager on infrastructure projects and provide highly responsible, complex administrative and technical support.
Job Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
· Review project drawings, contract documents, engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical documents to ensure compliance with City standards and determine appropriate recommendations.
· Develop bid documents and manage the construction of projects, including the annual Pavement Management Program and Capital Improvement Projects for the public works department.
· Manage post-award grant activities, including project implementation, budget oversight, compliance monitoring, reporting, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure successful grant outcomes.
· Observe project sites and evaluate contractors’ work to detect design problems and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
· Coordinate and manage project timelines and staff schedules to ensure efficient resource allocation and timely completion of work.
· Set up and help maintain project files and records, and manage the electronic filing system.
· Update and maintain the City construction details and standards; ensure all updates are implemented on the GIS map.
· Use computer-aided design software to draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
· Assist with the creation, editing, maintenance, and quality control of GIS datasets and maps
· Plan and conduct field surveys to locate new sites and analyze details of project sites.
· Function as the department point person for engineering research and survey efforts, providing support to Public Works staff as required.
· Exercise leadership practices within the position to move the department toward the City mission, vision, and values.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major course work in Civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
· State recognition as an EIT, having passed the FE exam
o Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may be considered in place of the EIT certification.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
· Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
· PE Certification
· Construction Inspection Certification
· CIP planning, subdivision development, and site planning experience
· AutoCAD, GPS, and GIS software experience
