Under the supervision of the Construction Manager, the Construction Project Manager provides on-site construction inspection and contract administration for the City’s major capital improvement projects during construction. The Construction Project Manager may also provide technical assistance to the CIP Resident Inspectors. $28.67 per hour MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree with five years’ experience in construction inspection and observation. One year of construction management and administration preferred Five years’ experience in construction inspection and observation / construction management and administration Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required Knowledge of AutoCAD preferred NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to support an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment Ability to interpret pertinent Federal, State and Local laws, codes and regulations Ability to maintain detailed project records meeting the requirements detailed in the States LPA Manual Knowledge of heavy construction methods, construction standards, basic engineering design practices and land surveying Knowledge of construction contracts Knowledge of major types of materials and methods for sanitary sewer, storm water, waterline utilities and street construction Knowledge of accepted safety standards, skills and methods of construction for roadways and utilities Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans Ability to work with and communicate effectively in oral and written form with contractor, City Departments, government agencies and public Ability to work independently or as part of a team and with the public Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines Ability to enforce necessary regulations with firmness and tact Ability to testify and prepare evidence for municipal and district courts PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts and works with Construction Manager, City employees, construction contractors, consultants, utilities, state agencies and the public The City of Lee’s Summit offers a variety of municipal career opportunities with more than 150 job classifications.
