This seasonal position is responsible for all maintenance of aquatic facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and fully functional environment for patrons and staff. This is a hands-on maintenance position that performs both routine and repair-based maintenance. The position includes frequent internal contacts within the work unit and external contacts for providing or obtaining routine information or solving routine problems. Interaction is direct with customers, the general public and other departments and agencies. Work is performed with latitude for independent decision-making within guidelines of policies and procedures. The position reports to the Aquatics Specialist but also takes direction from the Aquatics & Facilities Maintenance Specialist. Pay for this seasonal position begins at $16.00 per hour.
Position Responsibilities:
Aquatics Operations. Responsible for seasonal preparation and post-season winterization of all aquatics facilities, as well as ongoing maintenance of the aquatics facilities including overseeing chemical applications, testing chemical levels, and ensuring proper operation of all mechanical equipment related to pool operations.
Facility Maintenance. Monitors condition of facilities, makes repairs, and responds to maintenance requests in a timely manner. Performs general construction, plumbing, and/or electrical work on maintenance projects. Handles repair and remodel duties, and assists in construction projects. Performs custodial and cleaning tasks to ensure upkeep of the aquatic facilities. Develops skills in performing general construction, plumbing and-or electrical work on maintenance projects.
Transportation and Communication. Drives or rides in City trucks to haul materials and transport equipment to and from aquatics facilities. Loads and unloads materials and equipment from trucks and trailers. Listens and receives calls on cell phone to receive assignments.
Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance. Maintains provided vehicles and equipment to department standards.
Other duties. Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
Position Requirements:

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Previous work experience in construction, maintenance, and/or operation of trucks and light equipment preferred. Previous aquatics maintenance experience strongly preferred.
Regular hours will fall within the hours of 7am-8pm. Responsibilities require varied shifts with frequent evening and weekend work. This position will be called in as needed to support the aquatics maintenance function during evening and weekend hours.
