General Definition of Work
Performs work repairing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs, and street signs by replacing sections, replacing or repairing old or damaged signs, cleaning storm drainage systems, maintaining and operating heavy equipment, performing snow removal on roadways, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Streets Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Functions
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. · Repairs and maintains streets, sidewalks, and curbs by replacing or repairing asphalt and/or concrete.
· Builds, repairs, or replaces signs and performs installations.
· Cleans storm drainage systems of debris to avoid water backup using heavy equipment and/or hand tools.
· Maintains and operates heavy equipment such as loader and dump truck.
· Treats and plows roads for snow and ice.
· Performs crack sealing to fill cracks and voids in roadways.
· Performs traffic control on work sites.
· Maintains catch basins, culverts, and ditches.
· Mows roadsides and parking areas.
· Paints crosswalks, parking lines, and arrows.
· Must be courteous and helpful to customers, staff, and the public.
· Performs additional duties as required.
· Follow city and department policies and procedures
· All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and less than a year of experience in street or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications
· Obtain a valid commercial driver's license Class B with tanker and air brakes endorsements in the State of Missouri within six months of hire.
· Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for position.
· May require possession of, or ability to obtain, specific licenses and/or certifications depending on departmental assignment.
